1963- Source: 1963, Surface Water Resources of Vilas County Verna Lake, T-40-N, R-6-E, Section 10, Area = 77 Surface Acres, Maximum Depth = 23 feet. Verna Lake is a spring lake of moderate fertility, having medium brown, slightly alkaline water of high transparency. The bottom materials consist chiefly of muck, with sand, and gravel. Both the inlet and outlet streams are small. Northern pike, walleye, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and pan fish are the principal fish species present. The lake has a use problem in that it has a stunted pan fish population. Public access is possible by the means of a town road with parking facilities. Public use facilities consist of two resorts. There is one cottage located on the shore line.
