Historic Descriptions

1963- Source: 1963, Surface Water Resources of Vilas County Spider (Little) Lake, T-40-N, R-6-E, Sections 2, 10, and 11, Area = 225 Surface Acres, Maximum Depth = 28 feet. LittleSpider Lake is a moderately fertile seepage lake, having clear, slightly alkaline water of moderate transparency. Bottom materials consist primarily of sand, with gravel and some muck. The fish species present are muskellunge, walleye, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and a variety of pan fish. The lake is considered to have a stunted pan fish population along with an aquatic weed problem. Public access is available by the use of a town road, however, parking facilities are not available. Public use facilities consist of eight resorts and three boat rental establishments. There are 26 cottages located on the shore line.
